Wereldmuseum is a centre for inspiration and information about world cultures past and present. Collections and presentations are the spiritual heart of the museum.

Organisation

The organization behind Wereldmuseum is made up of four staff departments and three sectors. Collections and Presentations is the sector responsible for the content of the museum product and for managing and preserving the collection. The sector responsible for facility management, which includes security for the museum and its artifacts, production, and the reception of  guests, is called Public and Security. The third sector, Catering, covers the Cafe-Winebar and the Restaurant as well as hall rental. Wereldmuseum has some 60 employees.

New Logo

Wereldmuseum adopted a new logo at the end of 2009.  The labyrinth is an ancient idea of a path leading to the origin of life. Its mystery lies in the experience of coming ever closer to the centre but being continually led away again. At an earthly level, tracing a labyrinth is an exercise in contemplation: a quest to find oneself and the way to spiritual enlightenment. The labyrinth at a heavenly level will always remain hidden from man. The highest level can be reached only by souls that are absolutely pure. The labyrinth has been known almost all over the world. The oldest images are 5000 years old but the concept goes back much further. This symbol, which represents origin and rebirth, fits seamlessly with the meaning of a large portion of the Wereldmuseum's collection, as well as with the renewal of the museum itself.
